The Spider Catcher - Morris
Status: page 260
Not your typical love story by any means at all. I find myself more drawn to Callie's story. The story is good, lots of new things in this 'new world'. Not much to say, but this is a good book with lots of history sprinkled in it. Rees needs to step up and claim Callie before he loses his chance.

Crossed - Condie
I finished reading Crossed this morning. It is really upsetting where Cassia is sent. All and all I was disappointed with the ending. It was more of a bridge, so unlike the first book. I hope the third book plays up the love triangle more because I kind of missed that in this book. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Lots of interesting things have happened in the past couple of chapters. The book is almost to the end and I don't see them getting to the Rising or the farmers by the end. Hopefully we will get a decision by the end though.
I hate to say it but now with all the new stuff going around while Eli was asleep I have a sad prediction for this boy. I think Eli will die. His story isn't all that mixed up in the love anymore. Either that or in the end I just see him following wherever Ky goes. Sorry Eli.
Now for Indie. This little girl seems to be more than I first thought of her. She has been able to accuse Ky of being the Pilot and figure out Xander's secret. When she showed Ky the map she truly thought she was helping him, but instead he realized that he doesn't want to find the Rising. I kinda suspected she would have some kind of Society hardware on her. Xander's card though was a surprise. I was also relieved to read that she is in love with Xander. The one thing she could never have. Sadly though she did confirm my first thoughts on her as being a thief.
Even though Xander only made a brief appearance in the beginning he is still running around in the minds in this book. Personally I don't think Xander deserves Cassia. Yes, he let her go and chase down another boy, but his only act of fighting for her was giving her those blue tablets. Which almost killed her. Xander has not even told Cassia his secret yet, so if she goes to him it's luck. I have a feeling based on our new discovery that we might be meeting him again. Unknowingly Cassia might choose him instead of Ky.
Cassia wants the Rising, but she wanted Ky and stumbled upon it here. I hope she goes with Ky. The Rising is not what she thinks it is, Ky tells her. She has gone all this way since the sorting to find him and be with him again. I don't think Cassia is wrong either way about choosing, but her not know which one drives me crazy. We might as well not know what she is thinking, or she should just have let the Society choose for her. Maybe they were even breeding her to become a Pilot, but in the Society's control. I see her choosing Ky in the end. The only thing I see standing in the way is her grandfathers poems.
Ky has been through so much and all he wants is to return to the place where his father's people are and be in a place with Cassia and untouched by the Society. Ky has been beaten by the Society for far too long and doesn't want to fight it. He just wants it gone. Ky knows loosing Cassia to the Rising means loosing her to Xander as well. He loves her, but he won't go with her. Ky is willing to let Cassia go and know that they will always have their love and their poem.

So for the most part of the story I felt like Cassia was a day behind Ky, until they finally meet up. Even then I feel like Ky leads this story. The newness of his thoughts and feelings is amazing to read. You get the flash backs to fill in the story, but it comes from a different point of view. I like to hear about his story and his dreams. He seems to dream of Cassia often.
Ky and Cassia's love is so pure and strong. Even though Cassia sometimes has thoughts of Xander, it is mostly regretful and sorrowful. I still can't believe she eat a tablet. After everything, she was desperate enough to take one and believe the Society would save her. Then, when she looks back on it she sees this. She has gone through so much and wouldn't stop until she was with Ky again. Once together again, they stole a night that the Society would never let them have. To kiss and be together and finally drink their thirst. A love free of the Society's grasp.
Their meeting was light and wonderful. The returning to the township was something I didn't quite expect, but Cassia finally starts to see Ky's real past. The are connected the whole time and are so sweet. Like love should be. The part where Indie is trying to ask Ky about Xander doesn't sit well with me. If Indie tries to make a move on Ky or even break them apart I will loose it. I wonder if Xander will ever show back up, or if Eli and Indie will end up together. Only time will tell...

I love how Ky still thinks of Cassia. Cassia can't be with Xander. I realized this at the end of Matched when she couldn't kiss him. That part broke my heart and told me they could never be together. They will only be friends even though they could easily be more. I say that both her and Ky think about each other a lot and I personally want them to end up together. I think she only traded his compass for something she thought would lead her to him. I hope by the end of the book they are together. I think this will happen considering the book is written from their perspectives.
